Jauan Jennings Leaves Minnesota Without a Deal

The Minnesota Vikings hosted San Francisco 49ers free agent wide receiver Jauan Jennings for a visit on Tuesday and Wednesday, but the pass catcher left the facility without signing a deal as talks between the two sides remain ongoing.

Jennings, 28, was a former seventh round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft out of the university of Tennessee. Since entering the league, the six-foot-three, 212 pounder has served as a reliable chain mover for the 49ers offense.

In 2025, Jennings hauled in 55 receptions on 90 targets for 643 yards and nine touchdowns across 15 games for San Francisco. He recorded 215 of those yards after contact and added 38 first-down conversions. Jennings earned a 68.3 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, ranking 48th out of 81 qualifying wide receivers, while his 70.6 receiving grade ranked 42nd at the position. This followed a career year in 2024, when he totaled 77 receptions for 975 yards and six touchdowns.

While the 49ers dealt with an injury-plagued roster this past season, Jennings’ determination to remain available is exactly what the Chargers need. At one point during the season, Jennings stated, “You know playing with injuries, it's part of it... You got high and low ankle sprains. You got shoulders at 20 percent. Five broken ribs. It is what it is. You keep playing and nobody cares. Keep playing. That's what we do.”

Additionally, Jennings is a fierce competitor who is willing to fight for his team in every sense of the word. Known for being involved in a number of altercations throughout his career, his physical play style sets a tone for the entire offense. He brings an edge and attitude that make him the type of player you want on your side, not lining up against you. Adding a personality like Jennings to a Kevin O'Connell-led team feels like a natural fit.

Adding a complementary piece alongside Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison would be a luxury for Minnesota. Jennings, who has steadily improved each season since entering the league, could provide both an immediate boost and long-term value to the offense. His physical style and reliability in contested situations would add balance to the receiving corps, especially if he builds on his recent production entering his sixth professional season, giving the Vikings another dependable option.

Although the visit concluded without a contract, both sides are expected to remain in communication following the two-day meeting, making it a situation to monitor.
