With an undefeated record but a struggling receiving corps, Minnesota’s front office may leverage the trade deadline to replace underperforming assets and solidify their championship aspirations.

The Minnesota Vikings appear to have swung and missed with one offseason transaction. The Vikings went into free agency and added former San Francisco 49ers wideout Jauan Jennings just before the 2026 season.

At the time, the move was welcomed, though we mentioned that Jordan Addison had been more statistically productive through the last three seasons. We still glossed over it. The addition has become a glaring issue.

As the Vikings approach the trade deadline with a real shot at a playoff run, some suggest Minnesota may make changes to address Jennings' lack of production. The Athletic's Alec Lewis took to KFAN's "9 to Noon" to discuss the Vikings' anticipated activity.

"Obviously the production from a pass-catching standpoint hasn't been there. I've also thought, like, when you go back and watch the tape, there are instances where you can see the blocking prowess that he provides, but also other snaps and examples where it just feels like you need a little more physicality. So, to answer your question directly, I think it's really going to come down to whether or not there is another team that is willing to offer the Vikings something of value.

And it's similar for me to, like, the J.J. McCarthy conversation in that, yes, if the value does reach a certain point, the Vikings will listen, but they're not trying to just push a player like that out the door. So, we'll see what happens over the next week or so. But I do think, I mean, we're going to talk a lot, I'm sure, on 9 to Noon, you guys are, in The Athletic, we are, about the trade deadline and what's possible, and I just expect Nolan Teasley and this front office to be really, really active, whether that produces a bunch of moves or not. I do expect that to be the case over the next three weeks."

To be sure, there is not much to complain about for the Minnesota Vikings who sit at 5-0 and enter the bye week with plenty of optimism. They are undefeated despite the fact that it's hard to imagine the team playing worse offensive football than they have. Still, that's an area they can fix.

Whether or not the team plans to move on from Jennings so soon, which seems unlikely, or build around what they have is still to be seen.

What is clear is that the Vikings control their destiny alongside the San Francisco 49ers as clear frontrunners to make the NFL playoffs in the NFC. We will keep an eye on what the Vikings feel they need to do to build a contender.
