As Justin Jefferson returns to practice, a fresh hamstring injury to Jordan Addison threatens to derail Minnesota’s stagnant offense ahead of a critical clash with New Orleans.
The Minnesota Vikings (4-0) face the New Orleans Saints (1-3) on Sunday. The game features two teams with opposite fortunes.
The Saints have played great offense this year but have come up short in big moments. New Orleans lost 31-30 to the Detroit Lions and 35-27 to the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Vikings have hardly had any offense but produced vastly different results. Minnesota has won two games without scoring a touchdown with a 9-3 win over the Chicago Bears and a 15-10 win over the winless Miami Dolphins. The Vikings made five field goals against the Dolphins.
Wide receiver health has played a role in their struggles. One NFL insider updated the latest on the Vikings' injury report.
Erick Strack of the Minnesota Sports Fan discussed the latest on the Vikings' injury health. Here's what he had to write on the status of star wideouts Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.
"Before practice, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell met with reporters and gave early insight into what we will see when that official report drops later, telling those gathered at TCO Performance Center that both Justin Jefferson and Brian O’Neill will practice today on a limited basis.
The surprise of the day was what KOC said was 'a little hamstring soreness, considered minor,' for Jordan Addison that will keep him from practicing. KOC said the hamstring 'kind of got tugged on one of TJ’s catches late in the game' against Miami, and the team hopes to get him back to limited work later this week. This will be the first time he graces the injury report this season.
At this point, given the unknowns surrounding Jefferson and Addison — and the addition of Odell Beckham Jr. — who knows what the MN Vikings WR group will look like this weekend in New Orleans. Both JJ and OBJ played at LSU."

The league's second worst offense, 262.8 yards per game, may require all of its key players to be able to play for the Vikings to get out of their current rut.
At any rate, getting back Jefferson could mean big things for the Minnesota passing attack. Look for the all-pro and dynamic receiving threat to make an impact when he takes the field again for the Vikings.
