Vikings eye Kyler Murray as insider links Carson Wentz to another team. Two surprising QB destinations emerge for 2026.

The offseason quarterback picture is getting simpler. One insider seems confident the Minnesota Vikings have the inside track to make a huge quarterback signing.

The Vikings have long been touted as the team to beat for Kyler Murray since Murray was released by the Arizona Cardinals, but it appears Minnesota's chances might be increasing by the week.

Connor Hughes of SNYtv, who covers the New Yorks Giants and New York Jets, may not be ruling out Murray signing with the Jets, but he is not suggesting the chances are high. He did have something interesting to say about the Vikings' likelihood of signing Murray. Here's what he had to share on social media.

"The #Jets might not target just one quarterback in free agency. Belief from agents who met with them at the NFL Combine is that they prefer to add two -- if they can. It's similar to what the #Giants did a year ago (Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston).

Kyler Murray was discussed, but he is expected to sign with the Vikings, per sources. No Kirk Cousins but watch Geno Smith & Carson Wentz. There is interest there. Jacoby Brissett, too, if Cardinals can be convinced to part. Was told that's 'doubtful,' with Jimmy Garoppolo expected to stay in LA. JG signing with the Cardinals would change that.

Wentz might surprise some, because of the notion Frank Reich/Wentz relationship fell apart in Indianapolis. From my understanding, that was more GM/owner, not coach. The two remain very close.

One source told me that the QB Reich prefers is Wentz. A quote from another: 'No one loves Wentz more than Frank.'"

There is more than one way to read the expectation that Murray will be a Minnesota Viking. Until a deal is done, everything is simply speculation. That sources believe Murray will sign with the Vikings is certainly of a speculative nature. Nevertheless, the confidence probably stems from Murray's reported interest in the Vikings and how much the fit makes sense for both teams.

Minnesota wants to have a quarterback for the present but likely would more than welcome a quarterback of the future. If the first seven seasons of consistent production are any indication, Murray is that caliber of quarterback.

Interestingly, Carson Wentz was mentioned as a player who could be of interest for the Jets. Whether or not the Jets sign him, the Vikings quarterback room is starting to look a little different for next year. We'll update changes as they come.
