The former number one pick is being pushed to Minnesota.

The Arizona Cardinals ended the Kyler Murray era after announcing the team will release the quarterback on the first day of the new league year. Needless to say, neither side could have predicted a breakup, given the expectations and vision of Murray as the Cardinals' franchise quarterback for many, many years. Now, both are looking for a new path.

The Minnesota Vikings are in the business of adding a quarterback with the season J.J. McCarthy just put up in 2025. Murray and Minnesota feel like a glove-and-hand fit, as the team is in win-now mode and the former Cardinals quarterback isn't in town to rebuild. Murray is looking to revive his reputation and career, and Minnesota wants to cash in on its roster.

Kevin Seifert of ESPN believes Minnesota is the frontrunner for Murray's services.

"Absolutely.

Vikings executive vice president of football operations Rob Brzezinski said last week that the team is exploring all opportunities to pursue a quarterback following J.J. McCarthy's struggles in 2025. Minnesota is not necessarily looking to supplant McCarthy as a starter, but it also hasn't ruled out adding a newcomer who could walk into the building as an unquestioned starter.

That puts Murray at -- or near -- the top of the Vikings' list. He will almost certainly have interest, knowing how his career would be impacted even by just one season of playing with receiver Justin Jefferson and under coach Kevin O'Connell.

The question is whether the Vikings are truly ready to send McCarthy back to the bench after only 10 starts since they made him the No. 10 pick of the 2024 draft.

As O'Connell enters his fifth season with the team, none of which has included a playoff win, it has to be a consideration."

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk ran down the odds in Vegas for Murray's new team.

"DraftKings has the Vikings as the early favorites to sign the first overall pick in the 2019 draft, at -110.

The Jets are next at +175, with the Dolphins at +320 and the Browns at +450.

The Falcons, at +500, are one of the most intriguing options, given their talent elsewhere on offense. As mentioned over the weekend, however, new president of football operations Matt Ryan (a 6'5" former quarterback) will have to be content to ride with an undersized signal caller.

There’s a long shot to watch, at +7500: The Rams. They’ll likely need a replacement for Jimmy Garoppolo at No. 2 behind Matthew Stafford, and there’s an unverified (for now) rumor making the rounds that Stafford has already contacted Murray to make the case for coming to L.A."

Keep an eye on Murray heading to Minnesota.
