The Minnesota Vikings were close to being a unanimous pick to defeat the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
The Minnesota Vikings are ready to get back on the field on Sunday as they were on a bye in Week 6 and are hoping to continue their strong start to the season to improve from 5-0 to 6-0 if they can defeat the Indianapolis Colts in Week 7.
Speaking of the Vikings chances against the Colts, the NFL analysts and experts have spoken and based on the results, Minnesota appears to be a strong favorite on Sunday.
Recently, Minnesota Vikings contributor Sam Thiel collected the predictions from all sorts of experts, and the results of these predictions clearly favor the Vikings over the Colts.
To start Pete Prisco of CBS Sports and Bill Bender and Vinne Iyer of Sporting News all picked Minnesota. Then Thiel noted that NFL.com was 5 for 5 picking the Vikings for Sunday.
Looking at more picks, Bleacher Reports was 6 for 7 in favor of the Vikings, ESPN was 11 for 11 picking Minnesota, The MMQB went 8 for 8 when it came to their experts selecting the Vikings to come out on top, and lastly, the Athletic had 7 of 8 analysts pick Minnesota as well.
So, when seeing the overwhelming majority of the pick from the NFL analysts for the Vikings to win once again, it does seem pretty clear that Minnesota has a decisive advantage according to the majority of analysts.
Now, one thing that the Vikings do need to be way of as Thiel notes is that Minnesota has lost in their last two opportunities which suggests that there could be some trouble for the Vikings in this game if they are not careful. However, it is important to note that Minnesota is at home and will have the support of a very passionate home crowd.
With all that said, this game overall does favor the Vikings when looking at the record as well as how these two teams match up.
Currently, Minnesota sits at 5-0 while Indianapolis sits at 2-4 and is actually coming off a loss to one of the worst teams in the NFL in the form of the Tennessee Titans who actually earned their first win by defeating the Colts.
When it comes how these teams match up, the Vikings do need their offense, to play much better, but ultimately this game will come down to how the Minnesota defense and defensive coordinator Brian Flores are able to do against Colts running back Jonathan Taylor who is one of the best backs in the entire league.
For the season, Taylor has 122 carries for 492 yards, seven touchdowns, 30 first downs, one fumble and one fumble lost while averaging 4.0 yards per carry 82.0 yards per game.
On the Vikings side, they are allowing 86.6 rushing yards per game which is No. 5 in the league and thus far they have only allowed one player to reach 100 rushing yards which shows their to stop the run on a consistent basis.
So, heading into Sunday, it will be interesting to see if the Vikings can shut down Taylor and the Colts, because if Minnesota does win that matchup they will likely improve to 6-0 and prove the experts the right to continue the strong start.
