Turner’s dominant start to the season continued against Miami, making his case as one of the league's best.
Minnesota Vikings edge rusher Dallas Turner entered the 2026 season with plenty of expectations, but four weeks into the year, he is making a stronger case than ever that he belongs in the conversation among the NFL’s best.
Turner was dominant in Sunday’s 15-10 victory over the Miami Dolphins, recording three total tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble on the day.
The performance pushed Turner’s season sack total to 5.5, putting him among the league leaders through four games. He also entered Sunday leading all edge defenders in total pressures with 24, according to Pro Football Focus, and his production against Miami only added to an already impressive start.
That is what makes the conversation around Turner different now.
It is one thing for a young pass rusher to have a few explosive games. It is another
to consistently build off of them. Turner has done both to begin the season.
The former first-round pick has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of Minnesota’s defensive approach under Brian Flores, but his individual ability and talent is becoming impossible to overlook. Turner has shown an ability to win as a pass rusher, and his performance against Miami showed how disruptive he can be when he gets into a rhythm.
There is still a difference between being one of the league’s hottest pass rushers and establishing yourself as one of its elite edge defenders. Turner will need to sustain this level of production over the course of the season before he can definitively be placed alongside the NFL’s established stars.
But that is becoming a much more reasonable conversation and he looks to be trending in the right direction.
Turner is no longer simply a promising young player waiting for his opportunity. He is finally turning into the player Minnesota believed he could be when they invested in him. He producing at a level that demands attention, and his impact is showing up in more ways than just the sack column.
Through four games, Turner has already recorded 5.5 sacks and multiple forced fumbles while consistently generating pressure. PFF gave him a 92.9 pass-rushing grade against Miami, his highest mark of the season.
If Turner continues producing at anything close to this pace, it may not be a question of whether he should be considered one of the NFL’s top edge rushers.
It may soon be a question of how high he belongs on that list.
