One NFL insider believes so.

The Minnesota Vikings named Kyler Murray the starting quarterback after holding a competition to be the starter with J.J. McCarthy. McCarthy took the news in stride and insisted he wanted to stay in Minnesota. Speculation has grown that the Vikings would make McCarthy inactive on game days with Carson Wentz as the backup quarterback.

One NFL insider believes McCarthy is looking for a fresh start with another franchise.

Jason La Canfora has listed four teams that could be in the running for McCarthy's services.

Let's look at each suggestion and their quarterback situation.

Los Angeles Chargers

This is such an easy suggestion with Jim Harbaugh as the head coach. Currently, the Chargers have Justin Herbert and Trey Lance, another high draft pick who cast off, as the top two options. Bringing Lance in as a fixer-upper project with upside is the same idea as trading for McCarthy.

Reuniting McCarthy with his college coach could be exactly what the former Michigan quarterback needs.

New York Giants

Another head coach named Harbaugh could jumpstart McCarthy's career. Jaxson Dart is the future right now, but his injury history is a huge concern. The team still has Jameis Winston, but McCarthy, in a Matt Nagy/Greg Roman offense, could limit his responsibilities should he be pressed into duty.

Given the uncertainty of Dart and his future, taking a chance on McCarthy and his development isn't the worst idea.

Miami Dolphins

Malik Willis was brought in as the starter, given his time with Jeff Hafley in Green Bay, where he played very well when called upon. After Willis, it's Quinn Ewers. The Dolphins have been connected to Mason Rudolph in Pittsburgh as a potential trade partner. McCarthy makes sense with a team in a rebuild and no pressure.

A fresh start with a team that will continue to ascend and rebuild works.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles are the case study for stacking quarterbacks. The team selected Jalen Hurts with Wentz as the starter. Once Wentz faltered and was traded to Indianapolis, the team started Hurts and he hasn't relinquished the starting role. Even with Hurts, the team has shown they are still interested in being proactive and take shots on quarterbacks.

The foundation of stability with the Eagles is a great place for McCarthy. He will be supported and surrounded by weapons and a good team since the Eagles draft well consistently. Will Howie Roseman make the call?
