Quite the comeback from the Vikings on Sunday.
The Minnesota Vikings found themselves down big against the division rival Green Bay Packers with Carson Wentz replacing Kyler Murray at quarterback. The Vikings became the first team in NFL history to be down 12-plus points with under 20 minutes left in regulation to wind up winning by 17-plus points.
Murray's injury isn't what the Vikings wanted to see, but Wentz was able to pull it together along with an amazing Vikings performance on defense headed up by the evil genius Brian Flores as defensive coordinator.
Here are the highest and lowest graded players from Sunday, according to Pro Football Focus.
Offense
Highest: Justin Jefferson 90.3
Eight catches on nine targets for 92 yards and two touchdowns and the former LSU receiver reminded everyone how good he is and analysts are too low on Jefferson. Five first down catches and 3.07 YPRR are all eye-popping. When targeted, Jefferson finished with a 148.8 QB rating.
Jordan Addison and Jauan Jennings will catch passes, I promise you, but it is great to see Jefferson dominate again for Minnesota.
Lowest: Kyler Murray 35.2
It's hard to evaluate Murray's performance after the vicious hit he took, which led to his exit. On only seven drop backs, Murray finished 3/5, 18 yards, and an interception. However, PFF did credit Vikings receivers with four drops on pass attempts from Murray.
There isn't much to take away anything substantial with so few snaps. It appears Murray will miss Week 2, but did participate in today's practice session in a limited capacity. That's probably good news for Murray progressing through the concussion protocol.
Defense
Highest: Dallas Turner 89.5
Nine pressures, six QB hits, two hurries, a sack, and a 24.2% pass rush win rate highlights Turner's best day as a professional. Flores unleashed blitz after blitz and Turner was lights out on Sunday. In true pass sets, no screens or play action, Turner turned in four pressures, three QB hits, a hurry, and a 54.5% win rate.
Flat out, a dominant performance from the young EDGE rusher.
Lowest: Eric Wilson 29.6
The WILL linebacker had a rough day tackling with a 33.3% missed tackle rate and allowed three catches on six targets for 28 yards. PFF dinged Wilson with a 25.4 tackling grade and 27.3 coverage grade.
The defense was excellent down the stretch, but Wilson stands to improve greatly from Week 1 to Week 2 in this defense.
