The Minnesota Vikings have been named as a potential landing spot for a veteran defensive lineman if he is moved.

The Minnesota Vikings are coming off their bye week with a record of 5-0 and hope to extend their streak to 6-0 if they can defeat the Indianapolis Colts in Week 7.

When it comes to the Vikings ability to start the season strong, a major part of that has been the defense led by defensive coordinator Brian Flores and his aggressive play calling. While Minnesota has been dominant, it is possible they could be looking to add a solid veteran on the defensive line.

Recently, Bleacher Report NFL analyst Kristopher Knox put together a 2026 NFL trade block big board entering Week 7, and on that big board, Knox mentioned the Vikings as a potential landing spot for veteran defensive lineman Zach Sieler who currently plays for the Miami Dolphins.

The reason Sieler may be available is not because his play on the field has been bad, it is because as Knox notes that Sieler's salary of $10 million would become fully guaranteed on the third day of the 2027 league year, but if the Dolphins were to release him before then, Miami would save $13.2 million in cap space.

With that said, if the Dolphins could find a suitor who would be willing to trade for Sieler, they could not only clear cap space but also get something in return. Looking at the projected trade value for Sieler, Knox has it as a conditional 2027 fifth-round pick, which is not bad at all.

Shifting focus to Sieler's performance this season, he has been solid as he has totaled 12 tackles, two sacks, an five tackles for loss as a dominant presence on the defensive line.

Now, when it comes to how Sieler could help the Vikings, his production in particular against the run could give Flores the flexibility to play lighter boxes on early downs based on the fact that he can stop the run and generate negative plays quite effectively. With the lighter boxes, Flores could put more defensive backs on the field to match up against elite receivers and put the Vikings defense in a good position whether it is run or pass.

While adding a player like Sieler may not seem like a big difference maker for the Vikings, that is far from the truth, as adding a veteran like him, who can help provide stability up front, provides schematic flexibility for Flores, as mentioned, but also gives Minnesota more depth on the defensive line, which could be huge over the course of a season when injuries can often stack up in the trenches.

So, as the trade deadline continues to approach and the season progresses, it will be interesting to see if the Vikings make moves and if they do end up trading for Sieler to add a solid depth piece to this team which could make this team even tougher to score on and may put Minnesota in an even better position to win the NFC North.
