Cowboy Christmas and the Calgary Stampede brought huge changes to the World Standings for the ladies of the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA). In the barrel racing, there were major shakeups with so many rodeos and great payouts on the table. With roughly 10 weeks left in the season, we will be keeping close tabs on the standings for the race to the National Finals Rodeo (NFR).

While official standings are still missing Calgary payouts, the following is based on our unofficial calculations.

Kassie Mowry remains on top with over $180,000 won on the season. Finishing second in Eugene, Ore. for $2,534.24, winning Greeley, Colo., for nearly $13,000, and taking home a little over $30,000 from the Calgary Stampede, she had a very solid first half of July.

Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi has also been having an outstanding month, continuing to hold onto second in the standings. Winning the NFR Open in Colorado Springs, Colo. for $19,000, as well as a solid Calgary Stampede performance for $21,000, her impressive string of horses continues to pull through at all of the right times.

Currently No. 3 in the World Standings, Megan McLeod-Sprague was the highest earner over Cowboy Christmas, banking nearly $30,000. Back on her main mount Seis Corona “Jag,” she continues to dominate the season from the winter building rodeos to the summer run.

One of the major shifts of the week was Calgary Stampede Champion Anita Ellis, who jumped from No. 32 in the World Standings as of July 8, 2025, to No. 5, according to our calculations. After her clean sweep in Calgary, Ellis is positioned to make her first trip to the NFR in December.

With her main mount “Sly” currently sidelined due to injury, Carlee Otero has put together a solid string of backup horses and continued to rack up checks. Banking roughly $20,000, she climbed from No. 15 to No. 12 in one week’s time.
