With over $66,000 added, the Red Rocket Futurity in South Jordan, Utah, drew an incredible set of competitors. The Bastian Ag Center hosted the 20,000 added Futurity, $10,000 added Derby, and $10,000 added Open 4D. 

Futurity

Washington cowgirl, Kathy Grimes, topped Round 1 of the Futurity with a 15.665 aboard KG Just Money (Pc Frenchmans Hayday x KG Justiceweexpected x Judge Cash). The run set a new arena record and banked them $2,242. 

Lora Nichols and Blissful Version (Winners Version x Blissful Beth x Brookstone Bay) came to play in Round 2, with a 15.732 and taking the $2,229 win. 

Grimes finished third in Round 2 with a 15.993, earning $1,672. The duo earned another $2,990 for the average title. The gelding out of her great NFR mare has had an outstanding futurity year and earned another $12,320 in South Jordan. The win pushed “Showie’s” dam over the $1 million mark in progeny earnings. 

Grimes earned another $1,798 in the High Stakes 1D and $2,399 in the Open 1D with her record breaking run. 

Nichols also made a clean sweep, winning $1,779 for the High Stakes 1D and $2,135 for the Open 1D. She added to her incredible weekend with another $4,303 in the Xtreme Mini Million.

Derby

One of barrel racing’s rising young stars, Tabitha Dyal, won Round 1 of the Derby aboard Slym Shady (Frenchmans Fabulous x SF Tiny Bit Of Fame x Dash Ta Fame) with a 15.814 for the $1,448 win. Krystal Dillman and Paris Texas (First Down French x Zan Parrs Texas Tea x Knight Robber) topped Round 2 with a 15.774 for $1,431, as well as the Average for $1,931. 

Dyal was the second highest earner of the weekend, winning $12,022.
