From the fast-paced world of professional barrel racing to the technical demands of reined cow horse competition, Fallon Taylor is preparing to showcase her versatility in a completely different arena.

The 2014 Women's Professional Rodeo Association World Champion barrel racer will participate in Big Guns in Cowtown on October 21 at the historic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas. Taylor will be joined by National Reined Cow Horse Association professional Clayton Anderson, with support from Timber Creek Performance Horses.

Taylor has established herself as one of the most recognizable personalities in professional rodeo. A seven-time National Finals Rodeo qualifier, she has built a career around her competitive accomplishments, colorful personality, and passion for the western industry.

While Taylor has spent years navigating the cloverleaf pattern, her upcoming appearance will introduce an entirely different set of challenges.

Unlike barrel racing, where competitors race against the clock around three barrels, reined cow horse competition emphasizes communication between horse and rider, precise maneuvering, and the ability to control cattle.

The discipline combines traditional ranching skills with competitive horsemanship, requiring horses to demonstrate athleticism, responsiveness, and control. Depending on the event format, competitors may be asked to complete reining maneuvers, work cattle within a designated area, or guide a cow along the arena fence.

For Taylor, the transition presents an opportunity to demonstrate her horsemanship beyond the barrel racing pattern.

Anderson's experience in the reined cow horse industry will provide valuable guidance as Taylor prepares for the competition. Their partnership brings together two accomplished western athletes from different disciplines, creating an opportunity for spectators to witness the crossover firsthand.

Taylor is also expected to bring her signature style to the arena. Known for her colorful western fashion and Ranch Dress'n clothing line, she has developed a recognizable presence both inside and outside the rodeo arena.

According to previous announcements, Taylor plans to wear her customary protective helmet during the competition.

As October 21 approaches, Taylor's participation adds another element of excitement to Big Guns in Cowtown, highlighting the diverse talents found throughout the western performance horse industry.

Whether competing against the clock or working cattle, the foundation of successful horsemanship remains the same: trust, timing, and communication between horse and rider. Taylor's upcoming appearance will offer fans a chance to see those skills applied in a new competitive setting.

Beyond the competition itself, her participation celebrates the versatility of western athletes and encourages greater appreciation for different equestrian disciplines.
