The reigning two-time World Champion crushed her own Calgary Stampede arena record with an impressive 16.68 second run, only extending her lead in the WPRA World Standings.
There has been no doubt about who the hottest barrel racer in professional rodeo is right now. Kassie Mowry made that extra clear once again Thursday afternoon in Calgary.
The reigning two-time WPRA World Champion once again rewrote the record books, stopping the clock in 16.68 seconds to set a new arena record during Pool C at the 2026 Calgary Stampede.
The cowgirls in Calgary have been on fire this year so far. The arena record had already fallen once earlier in that same performance.
Michelle Alley and her standout horse, Stiletto, got the crowd going with a 16.72-second run, breaking the previous arena record and looking as though they had just authored the fastest run Calgary had ever seen.
It lasted only a few minutes, though, because Kassie Mowry and her superstar gelding, Jarvis, were yet to run. They did what they have done so often over the past two seasons, found another gear, and dominated.
The pair crossed the timer in 16.68 seconds, setting the record yet again and reclaiming a mark they already owned. Jarvis had previously established the Calgary Stampede arena record in 2025 with a 16.74 second run, making Thursday's performance yet another example of the remarkable consistency that has made the duo nearly unbeatable.
For Mowry, this arena record is just one more accolade to add to an already amazing year and incredible career.
Already leading the WPRA World Standings entering Calgary, Mowry has built a large advantage over the rest of the field despite competing at fewer than half as many rodeos as many of her closest competition. Rather than relying on volume at all, she has relied on efficiency, making every run count while continuing to stack checks at rodeo's biggest stages and biggest paydays.
As the reining and two time World Champion, Mowry is chasing a third consecutive gold buckle in 2026. If she accomplishes it, she will further make history. The Calgary Stampede has long been known for season defining moments during the summer run, and this may be one of those stories.
Cowboy Christmas may be over, but the richest stretch of the rodeo season is far from finished. The Calgary Stampede is the largest outdoor rodeo in the world. Kassie and Jarvis could extend their lead even further after a huge win in Canada.
If Mowry and Jarvis continue running at this pace, we will likely see them not only extending that lead, but breaking all the records they already hold.
Many call Kassie Mowry the Greatest of All Time (G.O.A.T) for good reason, and she continues to prove that she has earned that title in every way.
