Spending September focusing on the PRCA competitions, John Crimber will not be competing in PBR Teams events.
The 2026 PBR Teams season is in full swing, and each team is fighting for the top spot in the league. One team, however, will be losing one of their top riders for the September Teams events. 2026 PBR World Champion John Crimber has officially announced that he will not be competing in the September Teams events in order to focus on PRCA Competitions.
The World Champion has made it no secret that he has his sights set on a second championship title for his 2026 seasons, and he hopes to achieve this by pushing for the PRCA Word Title. With a month left in PRCA regular season competitions, Crimber is going all in on PRCA competitions to put him in the best possible slot going into the NFR in December.
Should Crimber be able to achieve his goal, the 20-year-old rider would become the first person in history to win the PBR and PRCA World Championship titles in the same year. Currently ranked World No. 8, they are fully qualified to compete in the NFR in December. Furthermore, he has built a comfortable earnings cushion going into the NFR, making in mathematically easier for him to win the PRCA World Title. By taking the month of September to focus on PRCA competitions, this momentary cushion will only grow, slowly increasing his chances for the title. Starting off the month, Crimber has earned a total of over $160,000 in the 2026 season so far, and is hoping to add as much as possible to that sum before the PRCA regular season ends on September 30th.
Overall, John Crimber has already had a great rookie season in the PRCA, and he is sure to continue adding wins and major payouts to his season in the month of September. Choosing to step out of the PBT Teams competitions is likely a difficult decision for Crimber, but one that is strongly supported by his team and coach. John Crimber’s coach and father has shared his strong support for his son’s dreams. PBR Commissioner Sean Gleason also shared positive support for Crimber as he pursues this goal.
Crimber is already referred to as one of the greats, and the great must take the opportunities given to them. Although PBR fans are sad that they won’t see their favorite rider compete for a few weeks, the whole PBR community is thrilled to see this young rider continue to advance and fulfil his dreams.
Furthermore, with his newly announced two-year extension to his PBR Teams contract with Florida Freedom, fans will be able to watch their favorite cowboy ride for years to come. One thing is certain, no matter where John Crimber is competing, we will see great things.
