Last night’s Bucking Horse Futurity saw some great horses and riders alike at the 23rd Annual New Year’s Eve Buck & Ball by Cinch in Gillette, WY. With over 30 4yr-5yr old broncs looking to showcase their athleticism while the cowboys tried to cover the youngsters with grace and elegance. With over 50 rides between the long and short go-rounds the excitement was deep with some great rides and some wrecks that kept the viewers white knuckled on the edge of their seats.
The long go-round saw the whole bunch of 30 horses which got whittled down to the best 19 for the short go-round with re-rides included. In the end the aggregate winner was Thayne Elshere with 166.5 points between 3 rides on “183 Deadlines” which ended in a re-ride then “957” for the long go-round and then on “099” for the short go-round. Also notable was 2nd place Carson Bingham with 165.0 points on “04 Venus” and “281 Buck N’ Rich”, 3rd place James Perrin with 160.5 points on “035 Rockin’ Royal” and “-18” then rounding out the top 4 was Jake Schlattmann with 157.0 points on “020 Rooster” and “C10”.
Of course, the cowboys are only part of the party because without the amazing athletic horses there wouldn’t be the ruckus in the first place. All these young broncs were brought in to showcase and some had some big names behind them like quite a few out of “Lunatic Fringe” who has been a great bucker and is producing the likes to take the world by storm. So much goes into producing these athletes that kudos must go out to the Stock Contractors that make it all happen and last night was no exception. These futurity’s help define the future of the broncs and goes into supporting the breeders and suppliers of these fine steeds. With over $33,000.00 for the payout last night, we can help ensure these amazing Contractors can continue to keep producing these stars of the show. Here are the results of the payouts to the contractors from the talent they brought; Powder River #1 takes home the top prize with $9,380.00 followed by Summit Pro Rodeo $8,040.00, Dale Kling at $6,365.00, J-J Pro Rodeo $4,690.00, Stoddard Rodeo $3,015.00, and Wilson Rodeo $2,010.00.
The Pro’s come out tonight to raise the bar at the 23rd Annual New Year’s Eve Buck & Ball and to take the game to the next level for the spectators before the Ball and Concert finish things up. Be sure to be there as this is the event to be at as the last rodeo of 2025 is sure to be the best place to bring in 2026 and the New Year. I know we are sure looking forward to the bash and are looking forward to a hopping good time.
