After a long, successful, and decorated career, the great bucking bull, Ridin' Solo, has passed away.

The rodeo community is known for building strong bonds, making families all across the globe. Some of the most beloved members of this family are the livestock; horses, bulls, and more that travel and compete just as much as their riders. Sadly, the time that these animals have is limited.

Sadly, 612 Ridin’ Solo’s time has come to an end. Passing away of natural causes at the age of 10, Solo lived a long and full life of doing what he loved. Solo was one of the most beloved bulls in the PBR circuit, having 7 PBR World Championship appearances, and a two-time World Champion bull.

His career was an endless story of success and records. Throughout his career, he took home more than $450,000 in earnings, as well as multiple appearances at both the PBR World Championship and the NFR.

Not only did Ridin’ Solo earn lots of money, but he also earned lots of high scores. With a career average of a 44.3-point bull score, he was consistent with his power, strength, and control. His highest scoring career ride came in 2022 against Dalton Kasel when Rinin’ Solo posted a 47.5-pont bull score, placing him just below the PBR record. During his many years in competition, Solo had 93 recorded outs at PBR events. Of these 93 outs, he bucked off 79 riders to earn himself an 84.9% buck-off rate. This is truly an incredible feat for the bull, as the majority of his career was spent dominating the dirt.

Despite all of his success, however, Ridin’ Solo accomplished far more by being a member of the McCoy family. Joining the pens in 2018 at age 2, Ridin’ Solo was quickly a favorite of the family. Throughout his years with the McCoys, he was a valuable member of the pens as a breeder, bucker, and friend to the family.

Ridin’ Solo will be deeply missed by the entire rodeo community as his legacy speaks for itself. His unrivaled power and control in the chutes and on the dirt will forever be remembered by those lucky enough to draw his name. No one will miss him more, though, than the McCoy family.

Already mourning the loss of 2026 world No. 2 247 Pegasus, the loss of Ridin’ Solo is only furthering a tragic season for the McCoys. Rodeo Roundtable sends their prayers and condolences to McCoy ranch. A giant of the industry has fallen, but he will never be forgotten.
