Rodeo fans all know the name of six time world champion Kaycee Feild. Feild’s accomplishments in the bareback riding have been legendary, and his resume touts numerous accolades. Kaycee carried on this tradition from his father, Lewis Feild, who was an all around champion for three consecutive years during the 1980s.

Now, there is another member of the Feild family taking the rodeo world by storm: Daxtyn Feild. Daxtyn is Kaycee’s nephew and is a 19 year old cowboy from Roosevelt, Utah. This talented young cowboy is coming off his rookie year as a bareback rider. He’s thoughtful and balanced in his interviews and knows what he wants. His drive and discipline make it apparent he will be likely to achieve every one of his goals, and his talented performances thus far have only cemented that hopeful future.

His first year of professional rodeo has been eye-catching. During the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo in Denver, Colorado, Daxtyn had an 82 point ride in round 1 and then an 81 point ride in round two, earning him a spot in the semifinals. His long time approach has been to be strategic about where he rides and what horses he gets on. Daxtyn wants to win when he climbs aboard a horse. And he has proven he is capable of doing so, earning high point rides and avoiding air time in buck offs.

Prior to his pro rodeo days, Daxtyn was a big competitor in the National High School Rodeo Association, as well as special events like the Cinch World Championship Junior Rodeo. He even was able to accompany his uncle to behind the scenes moments at huge events like the Cheyenne Frontier Days. It was all these moments that accelerated this young cowboy’s passion and hopes for the future.

But he’s not just a rough stock man. He’s all around cowboy with skills in various events. Many people don’t know that Daxtyn grew up team roping and is also an accomplished calf roper. He can ride and rope with the best of them and comes by it through his family too. His mother’s side of the family is full of famous team ropers like NFR roper Rhen Richard. But despite these talents, Daxtyn has to stick with his true love: bareback riding. He wants to go to the NFR as a bareback rider and he dreams of doing it in his first full rodeo season.

With a No.4 ranking in the Resistol Rookie of the Year standings, he has managed to earn over $3,000 this season alone in his budding professional career. He previously earned $26,000 in his permit year.

He also competes on the college rodeo team at Tarleton State University.

With solid sponsors like Ariat behind him and quality performances in the arena, his reputation will only continue to grow. Daxtyn is a cowboy to watch for the future! He’ll be following in his uncle’s footsteps and coming out of those yellow NFR chutes one day.
