It is safe to say that the sport of rodeo continues to grow year after year. Nobody would have guessed that bull riders would be competing in Alaska a few years ago, but now they are!
Fairbanks, Alaska hosted an Xtreme Bull Riding event at the Tanana Valley State Fairgrounds. From behind the bucking chutes, you could see the beautiful mountains that Alaska is notoriously known for.
This is the northernmost event in America as it is only about 120 miles south of the Arctic Circle.
The total payoff for this event is over $27,000. There were only eight athletes to cover their bulls, so all who covered received a check.
22-year-old Qynn Andersen of Queensland, Australia took home over $8,000 for his 86.5-point ride. He teamed up with the bull Key-Lix Fingers owned by Big Stone Rodeo Inc. for the event win. Legend Rodeo Stock LLC had quite the day as five of the top eight competitors were on their bulls.
This event showcased talent from all over the world. There were National Finals Rodeo qualifiers who made the trip up there and it is safe to say this was a memorable experience that fans and competitors will never forget.
Events around the country will continue to pop up as fans continue to show their love and support of these athletes. The opportunities are endless for athletes as rodeo starts to be showcased and appreciated on a national stage. Who knows what event could come together next!
