Bareback Rider Leighton Berry tops the field so far at the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo with 92 points aboard Tator Tot. Roughstock heating up as the rodeo continues.

The San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo wraps up this week as the last rodeo on the Texas Swing. San Angelo is always a pivotal win for cowboys and cowgirls before finishing out the spring in preparation for the big summer run coming soon.

The bareback riding started very strong when early on Leighton Berry went straight to the top with a big 92 point ride. Berry was paired up with Korkow Rodeos' Tator Tot for the ride.

Leighton sits comfortably on the top of the leaderboard right now to advance to the finals. Behind him is Cole Reiner with 88.5 points and Wacey Schalla with an 87.5. Reiner and Schalla both had great rides, but are still over 3 whole points behind Berry.

In 2023, Berry won the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo on his way to the NFR. He is a many time Texas Circuit Finalist, and has won about every Texas rodeo there is to win. He already has one San Angelo title under his belt, and is looking strong to add another this year.

The horse, Tator Tot, by Korkow Rodeo also has a great story.  Last year in San Angelo, Cole Reiner was 88 points on her for a second place round finish. She was selected to buck at the NFR for her first time in 2024. That year Rocker Steiner drew her in the 6th round and ended up winning the round with 89 points. The horse just keeps getting better, and taking more cowboys to the pay window.

The Weatherford Texas cowboy is a 4x NFR Qualifier and currently sits number 10 in the PRCA Bareback World Standings. In 2024, he finished 8th in the world standings. In 2025, Berry missed the NFR, finishing on the outside of the top 15. This year, he is back in the running, and is looking for his 5th trip to Vegas.

The top 12 in each event will advance to the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Finals on Friday April 17th. It is safe to say we will see Leighton back in the finals looking to repeat his title from 2023.
