
It’s been an action packed week in Mississippi and there’s still more to come! With the final nights of the Dixie National Rodeo today and tomorrow, it’s almost time to see who the all-around champions will be.
The competition remains tough, with leaders in every category putting fast runs and high scoring rides on the board.
In the bareback riding, Cooper Filipek leads with an 87 point ride on Penthouse Pro Rodeo’s Minnesota Joe. Just behind him in second place is Collin Roland with an 86 point ride, followed by a tie between Tanner Aus and Roedy Farrell with 85.5 point rides.
The first round winner in the steer wrestling was Garrett Oates with a 3.8 second run. Round two was equally fast with Travis Munro taking first with a 3.9 second run. These times stayed fairly constant within range for the average leaders with Kaden Greenfield going 10 seconds on two head and Jaden Whitman going 10.2 on two head.
The team roping cowboys kept the 4 second trend going. Clint Keller and Morgan Jones had a 4.3 second tie with Jayse Tettenhorse and Belden Cox. Close on their heels were Kelvin Medeiros and Jaydon Warner with a 4.5 second run.
Kade Bruno had a 86.5 point ride on Penthouse Pro Rodeo’s Bobs Alibi in the saddle bronc riding to put him in first place. Second place was a tie between Bryett Larsen, Weston Patterson, and Statler Wright with individual 84.5 point rides.
The tie-down ropers saw a first round win from Dylan Hancock with a 7.3 second run. In the second round Tyson Durfey came in first with an 8.0 second run. The average leaders are Riley Webb going 17.0 seconds on two head, Brodey Clemons going 18.0 on two head, Landyn Duncan going 18.7 on two head, Jacob Walters with a 19.1 second run on two head, Cason Kingsbury with a 19.5 second run on two head, and Beau Cooper with a 19.9 second run on two head.
For the ladies of barrel racing, Josey Murphy took first with a 13.83 second run. Directly behind her was a tie between Tricia Aldridge and Savannah Shumpert with a 13.89 second run. Keeping up with the quick times, Tayla Moeykens had a 13.90 second run, Brandie Inman a 13.91 second run, and then Kassie Mowry with a 13.92 second run.
The bull riding cowboys rounded out the show with high energy and tough rides on excellent stock. The stock was provided by Harper & Morgan Rodeo Co., with subcontractors including Korkow Rodeos, Championship Pro Rodeo, Penthouse Pro Rodeo, Brookman Rodeo, and Rocky Mountain Rodeo.
Mason Moody is leading the board with an 88.5 point ride on Harper & Morgan Rodeo Co’s No. 15h. Second place is a tie between Dakota Hill and Braxton Whitesell with a 84.5 point ride. Third and fourth was also a tie with Hudson Bolton and Jace Hensley having 84 point rides. Taylor Allen had an 80.5 point ride.
