Big Sky cowboy Sage Newman tops the field with an 89.5-point ride at Rapid City Xtreme Broncs.
Sage Newman made the most of his opportunity at the PRCA Xtreme Broncs, delivering a clutch short-go performance to capture the title at Rodeo Rapid City on Jan. 31, 2026.
The event featured four sections of competition before the field narrowed to a final round shootout, where the top riders battled for the title and the biggest share of the payout. With standings implications already in play early in the season, the intensity never let up inside the arena.
South Dakota native Eastan West gave the hometown crowd an early boost in the opening section. Paired with Sutton Rodeo’s Daidra’s Pet, West put together a sharp 82.5-point ride to win the section and secure his place in the short-go.
When the final round arrived, it was Sage Newman who rose to the moment.
The Melstone, Montana, cowboy drew Summit Pro Rodeo’s Cowboy Fool and turned in the highest-marked ride of the night. Newman matched the bronc jump for jump, finishing with an 89.5-point score to seal the event win and earn the top payout of $4,000.64.
The victory capped a strong overall showing for Newman, who also split first in the third section earlier in the night with an 86.5-point ride aboard Bravo Brunson.
