With an exciting weekend full of cowboys and country music stars, the 2026 Music City Rodeo officially concludes with major payouts for the event champions.
The Music City Rodeo, founded in 2023, has quickly grown to be a fan-favorite for rodeo and country music fans alike. Over the course of three days, cowboys and cowgirls from across the country brought their best to the dirt for their chance to take home an event win in the stunning city of Nashville, Tennessee.
Eight competitors were able to fulfil this dream, leaving Music City as champions with a handsome payout totaling over $300,000.
Bareback Riding
After a weekend of stiff competition, the bareback riders entered the arena on Saturday night against in intimidating scoreboard set by the nights prior. However, Kody Lamb didn’t let the success of his competitors stifle his focus. With precision and grace, he secured an 88.5-point ride on Watermelon Moonshine to win the event. After the tragic loss of his father in January, it was no mystery that this rodeo held a lot of emotional value for Kody, who is known for his deep love of music. Overall, this event win was a major success to Kody Lamb, beyond simply the title or the payout. This ride is one that reminded rodeo fans everywhere that Rodeo is more than just the competition: it’s a community.
Steer Wrestling
This event was a three-head competition, meaning each athlete had three opportunities to wrestle their steers. The first two runs took place in morning slack, the last one during the nightly performances. After the three days of competition, Cash Robb was able to secure the event win with 13.6 seconds on three head. Overall, it was a great weekend of competition in this event.
Team Roping
Like the steer wrestling event, the team roping was held as a three head with the first two rounds happening during slack. Although there were many successful teams, Jake Smith and Douglas Rich were the team that was able to come out on top with 15.1 seconds on three head. Going into the final night of competition, they were already ahead with 9.8/2, and with one last successful run, they were able to turn their lead into a first-place finish.
Saddle Bronc Riding
The second rough stock event of the rodeo, saddle bronc riding was one of none-stop excitement. This event was also the highest-scoring rough stock event with Shorty Garrett riding Angel Cat for 91.5 points. This was a stunning ride of precision and skill, leaving Shorty to beat out the man who had been holding the lead spot, Stetson Wright. In all, the saddle bronc riding in Music City was an extremely successful event for the riders, and an entertaining event to behold.
Tie-Down Roping
The final roping event of the weekend, the tie-down roping was also held as a three head event. After the weekend of competing against some of the top tie-down ropers in the country, Cole Clemons was able to secure the event win with 26.7 seconds on three head. This cowboy did not compte in the final night’s performance but was able to hold the lead with his impressive runs to secure the overall event win.
Barrel Racing
As the only featured women’s event of the weekend, the cowgirls competing in Music City came to bring their best to the dirt. This event was run as a two head event, the first runs happening during slack. With 15 women competing in this event across the three days of competition, Charlee Otero was able to win the event with a combined time of 30.11 seconds over two runs. With over $1 million in career earnings, this cowgirl is no stranger to success. This weekend was simply yet another achievement to add to her already impressive career.
Bull Riding
Nashville got to witness some of the rankest bulls in the country face off against some of the best riders in the country during this final event of the Music City Rodeo. In this event, each rider got only once chance on the dirt, but Tristan Mize took full advantage of his one shot. Riding Corn Palace, he was able to secure an 88-point ride, winning the overall event. Tristan Mize has been having an extremely successful season, and his win in Nashville is sure to be a success to remember in his career.
All-Around Champion
Stetson Wright has officially added another all-around champion title to his resume, earning an additional $11,888 at the 2026 Music City Rodeo. This cowboy can’t seem to stay out of the headlines as he continues to rack up wins and titles in his 2026 seasons. The PRCA is sure to see more success from Stetson as the season continues, but the Rodeo fans in Nashville were thrilled to watch his success over the weekend of the 2026 Music City Rodeo.
