Steer wrestling sensation Garrett Oates dominates as new stars emerge. Discover the thrilling payouts and top performers from the high-stakes finale.

The Dixie National Rodeo drew to a close with a big payout and several up and coming athletes in the winner’s circle.

  Of particular note was steer wrestler Garrett Oates, whose consistent quick and accurate performances landed him in the top spot over and over again. In the first round, Oates came in first place with a 3.8 second run and a $2,749 payout. In the second round, he came in first again with another 3.8 second run and a $2,749 payout. His average score of 7.6 seconds on two head put him in first place in the average as well with a $4,123 payout. Additional placements in the steer wrestling included Ty Bauerle with a 3.9 second run for a $2,390 payout and second place placement in the first round. Travis Munro filled that second place spot in the second round with a 3.9 second run and a $2,390 payout. Second place in the average went to Kaden Greenfield who was 10.0 on two for a $3,585 payout.

     The mix of rising stars competing against household names continued throughout the rodeo with several new names on the leaderboard.

  Cooper Filipek scored 87 points in the bareback riding on Penthouse Pro Rodeo’s Minnesota Joe, earning him $5,887. Almost every other placement following him was a tie, with Sage Allen and Kade Sonnier tying for second place with an 86.5 point ride and a payout of $3,925 each. Next was an 86 point ride from Collin Roland and a $2,158 payout, before the ties resumed with Tanner Aus and Roedy Farrell with an 85.5 point ride and a $1,177 payout each and then an 85 point ride and a $687 payout for both Tim O’Connell and Nick Pelke. 

   The team ropers put on a show with sharp times. Cory Kidd V and Carson Johnson came in first place with a 3.8 second run and a payout of $4,635 each. Coy Rahlmann and Logan Medlin won second place with a 4.0 second run and a $4,017 payout. Third place was a tie between Shay Dixon Carroll/Denton Dunning and Cole Smith/Boogie Ray with a 4.1 second time and a $3,399 payout each.

  Another Penthouse Pro Rodeo force of nature helped saddle bronc rider Kade Bruno earn a high score. Kade Bruno went 86.5 points on Penthouse Pro Rodeo’s Bobs Alibi for a $6,458 payout.  In second place there was a tie between Parker Fleet and Logan Hay, both with 85.5 point rides for a payout of $4,305 each.

  Several National Final Rodeo (NFR) competitors were seen in the arena, with many being in the calf roping. Riley Webb was the ace of the average in the tie-down roping, going 17.0 seconds on two head for a $4,401 payout. Brodey Clemons came in second in the average with a 18 second time and a $3,827 payout. Tyson Durfey took first place in the second round with a 8.0 second run and a $2,934 payout.

   The barrel racing saw several runs in the 13 second realm. Josey Murphy led the charge with a 13.83 second run for first place and a $6,883 payout. Second place was a tie between Tricia Aldridge and Savannah Shumpert whose 13.89 second runs led to a payout of $4,990 each.

   Mason Moody was the bull riding champ with an 88.5 point ride on Harper & Morgan Rodeo Co’s No. 15h for a $6,458 payout. Elijah Mora earned second place with an 86 point ride and a $4,951 payout. Third place was a tie between Dakota Hill, Garrett Tribble, and Braxton Whitesell with an 84.5 point ride and a payout of $2,511 each.

This Mississippi rodeo continued its tradition of top talent and big payouts, with a total payout of $256,772.
