Breakaway Roper Jenna Dallyn is Turning Heads as a New Force From the North

Jenna Dallyn is a name you’re going to want to remember if you haven’t already.

Many doors have opened for this Canadian breakaway roper after winning the NFR Open in Colorado Springs in 2024. This win qualified her into the Texas winter rodeos for the 2025 season. She earned her spot at the NFR Open through a Maple Leaf Circuit Finals Average win (which she has won twice).

Dallyn made her debut at San Angelo, San Antonio, and Fort Worth, Texas where she took advantage of the clearly deserved opportunity. After multiple quick runs at San Angelo she ended up splitting second and third overall. Fans also saw her in the finals at Fort Worth and she roped her way into the semi-finals at San Antonio.

Dallyn was born and raised in Nanton, Alberta surrounded by a family that competed in rodeo. She moved to Texas when she graduated high school to first attend South Plains College in Levelland. She went to complete her degree at Tarleton State University after qualifying to the College Nationals Finals Rodeo in the goat tying. She finished her collegiate career as a Texan and graduated with a degree in Animal Science Production.

One of the best pieces of advice she has to anyone who wants rope professionally is to be patient. “Never deter from what you really want to do, but be willing to be patient until you can commit full time. You will never feel 100% in every aspect to go full time and compete against the best in the world, but if you can gain confidence, have the right horse power, and be ready financially you can set yourself up to be successful.” says Dallyn.

Canada is a great place for anybody to rodeo, especially if you’re looking to build confidence before fully committing to the professional rodeo world. The rodeos north of the border don’t differ too much besides the amount of entries. The competition is always going to be tough, but you won’t have to travel as far. Dallyn has qualified to the Canadian Finals four times already in her early career.

Anybody who has met Dallyn respects her. She is known for what she can do with a rope, but would also give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. If you are looking to cheer for someone when you’re watching the CowboyChannel this summer, she’s the one to pick.
