Beau Peterson has always been an incredible competitor whether it has been in the arena or on the basketball court. She grew up on a ranch in Council Grove, Kan. and has been involved with rodeos her entire life. It is a family affair in the Peterson household.
As a National Finals Breakaway Roping qualifier nobody would argue how talented she is with a rope, but since that qualification in 2022 it has been her training that has really begun to stand out.
Between the Gold Buckle, Royal Crown, and Roping Futurities of America she has taken home more than 15 wins personally as well as was the RFA ShootOut Slot Champion in Waco, Texas.
Her current standout equine partner is Aldo the Apache, also known as Grizz. As a 5-year-old he has already qualified to the finals in San Antonio, Texas and has lifetime earnings well over $100,000.
Shane Hanchey assisted in his training in the tie-down roping and Beau Cooper has been seen winning on him at the futurities. Cooper has competed on him four times and has finished no worse than third, with two event championships.
Since Peterson started showing horses in the spring of 2023 she has won over $500,000. It is safe to say one can make a career out of this. Just remember that trainers are trying to set horses up for their entire careers, not just their futurity years.
As her career moves on she is determined to win Horse of Year for the Women's Professional Rodeo Association. She has already won this award twice in the Prairie Circuit and to win it across the association would be a dream.
"That award is such an honor; to have your horse voted as the favorite in a field of so many amazing horses would be incredible,” says Peterson.
Heading into this summer you will see her gunning for her next finals qualification. She has the talent and love for the horse that it takes to excel on such a level. It’s only a matter of time before she is a world champion.
