A blanket of sadness covered the hearts of the rodeo world when news broke of the passing of 3-year-old Oaklynn Rae Domer. Oaklynn was the daughter of Ryan Domer and 2024 World Champion breakaway roper Kelsie Domer. She was described by many as a light in every room who never met a stranger.
In honor of Oaklynn, barrel racers and breakaway ropers competing during Round 1 of Bracket 4 each donned a touch of pink — from feathers in their hats to boots on their horses and pink glitter. There was not a dry eye in the arena once people realized who the tribute was for. Kelsie was scheduled to compete in that round, but her friends and fellow competitors rode in honor of her and Oaklynn instead.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at Central Double N Cowboy Church. The service will also be livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page. A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at Auburn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the Rope Like A Girl Foundation will accept donations to go directly to Ryan and Kelsie to help with expenses related to the loss of their daughter. Contributions can be made payable to the Rope Like A Girl Foundation and mailed to the First Financial Bank branch in Clyde, Texas.
