Steer roping also remains central to the Fiesta’s identity. Rooted in the practical ranch work of roping and doctoring cattle in the pasture, the event preserves an important part of Western heritage. Clay Long took home the title this year with a 46.6-second aggregate on three head. Troy Tillard finished second with a 48.2, Roger Nonella third with a 55.5, and Kyle Cauthorn rounded out the top four with a 63.2.

For Mayfield, this win adds another accomplishment to his comeback year. For the Cinch Roping Fiesta, it continues a tradition that has brought generations of ropers to San Angelo for more than 70 years.
