Jorgenson has had a great start to his 2026 season, most recently winning the first ever X-treme Bulldogging Finals, but a major knee injury is requiring surgery and some time off now for the 6 time NFR Qualifier.

Steer Wrestler Stetson Jorgenson has had an outstanding season in 2026 so far. Currently he sits number 3 in the PRCA World Standings. 5 time World Champion Tyler Waguespack and RODEOHOUSTON Champion Holden Myers are the only two that have won more money that Jorgenson so far this year.

Most recently, in Abilene Texas, Stetson took home the title of the first ever X-treme Bulldogging Finals. Shortly after though, he announced some unfortunate news about a knee injury that will require surgery.

In his social media post, Jorgenson said, "Today's update isn't what I was hoping for. Unfortunately at San Angelo I tore some ligaments in my knee and will have surgery next week. Looking at about 4-6 months of recovery."

This injury happened during the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo which is just beginning. Although this is a major setback in what was a great beginning to his year, Jorgenson has faith that it is just a setback and he will return soon with a vengeance.

"It's tough, but setbacks are a part of rodeo and I am staying focused on the big picture. Trusting God's plan, putting in the work to get well, and focusing on getting back in the arena as soon as possible," Jorgenson continued.

Stetson is a 6 time NFR qualifier. Him and his wife Kellie (Collier) Jorgenson live in Blackfoot, Idaho, home of the Gem State Classic Pro Rodeo every year in September. Kellie is a professional barrel racer and made the NFR herself in 2017. The couple got married a few years ago and in September welcomed their first baby boy to the world, Rattler.

2016 was Stetson's rookie year. He finished 5th in the Resistol Rookie Standings. In 2019, Jorgenson made his first trip to Vegas and finished third in the World Standings. In 2020, the year the pandemic moved the NFR to Arlington, Texas, he was the reserve World Champion. He made the NFR again in 2021 and 2022. A tough season in 2023 would leave him outside of the top 15. However he came back in 2024 and again this past December where he finished with over $280,000 on the year and 5th in the World Standings.

This year has been strong for Jorgenson. The 32 year old has had success at many of the major winter rodeos already, including a win at the La Fiestas de los Vaqueros in Tucson, Arizonia about a month ago. This past weekend added more than $10,000 to his season at the inaugural X-treme Bulldogging Finals presented by Cedar Gap Welath in Abilene Texas.

This new event paid out over $100,000 and was the largest standalone payout in the steer wrestling we have seen. Stetson took advantage of such a great opportunity, and capitalized taking home the average win.

Stetson also recently competed at his first ever Cinch Timed Event Championship.

This knee injury is unfortunate timing, however knowing Jorgenson's ability and determination, it is easy to say he will be back in the arena in no time. The 2026 season is still young, and there is so much money left to win on the year.

Sending healing prayers to Stetson as he goes into surgery next week. We hope to see you back in the box again very soon.
