The Cinch 21st Annual National Team Roping League Finals brought some of the nation’s top roping talent to Jacksonville, Florida this past week.
With days full of a variety of roping competitions and a payout of over a million dollars, there was something offered for every roper from the team ropers to the breakaway ropers. Over 3,066 teams competed in the team roping alone!
South Carolina cowgirl and event production specialist Leah Hare hosted the North Florida Breakaway Roping Classic in connection with the Cinch NTRL Finals. These four days of breakaway roping offered an added $5,000 in prize money. Last year, Leah Hare was the open winner of the NTRL Breakaway Roping Finals.
This year, a North Carolina cowgirl stole the spotlight. Carter Garren laid down some quick runs and claimed her spot in the money with her sharp roping and fine horsemanship. Garren was the B High Money Winner for the NTRL Finals Breakaway Roping. She was 2.75 and 2.92 on her runs in the 18 and Under and won the average and the fastest time in both rounds while also placing 4th in the Open Roping with a time of 8.62 on 3 head.
The additional two big winners in the breakaway were Rena Kate Livengood with the open win and Bailey May with the youth win. These girls did an incredible job in the midst of tough competition.
