Haven and Shelby Meged prepare to welcome a baby boy, while Josie Conner and Riley Webb begin their next chapter together.

This Valentine’s Day, the rodeo world isn’t slowing down. Rodeo athletes are fresh off of the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, and the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo has just begun.

For two of rodeos most recognizable couples, 2026 carries more than just standings and money though. It carries life changes, the kind that don’t replace the hard work and the goals, but redefine and put some perspective into it.

At the top of the tie-down and breakaway roping world, both couples are stepping into major milestones while continuing to compete at the highest level.

Haven and Shelby Meged

Haven Meged and Shelby Boisjoli Meged have already accomplished what many only dream of. Both are world champions, and both have set records and made history.

Shelby is the only breakaway roper to have qualified for all 6 National Finals Breakaway Ropings since the event began. She’s already had a strong start to the 2026 winter rodeos before stepping away.

Now, the Megeds are preparing to welcome a baby boy.

Shelby is taking maternity leave now, but she has already made it clear that Calgary is her goal for a return. With the way she roped to start the year, a seventh NFBR qualification is still well within reach, even with time away.

For Haven, the priorities also shift slightly. He has always roped with something big driving him. This year, that motivation may feel even bigger. When you’re backing into the box knowing there’s more than just titles attached to your name, it changes perspective.

For the Megeds this is a very meaningful next chapter is for them. Answered prayers, a growing family, and a commitment to take their son on the road right alongside them.

In rodeo families, life doesn’t stop when babies come, it just adapts. The passion doesn’t disappear because priorities evolve.

Riley Webb and Josie Conner

Riley Webb and Josie Conner are stepping into a new season of their own. The two champs are enjoying a season of engagement.

Webb enters 2026 as the reigning and three-time world champion in tie-down roping. He sits firmly at the top of his game. Conner, after four consecutive trips to the NFBR, is chasing her first gold buckle.

Both were named Resistol Rookie of the Year in 2022, a year that launched both of their careers. Since then, their resumes, and their relationship have only grown. Now they are building a life together alongside those careers.

In the rodeo world, relationships either understand it or they don’t survive it. These two understand it completely. They know the long trips, the short nights, the practice pen grind and the discipline it takes to stay at the top of the game.

Their engagement doesn’t slow down their pursuit of championships at all, it actually only strengthens it. Iron sharpens iron they say.

Yes, rodeo is built on individual performance, but behind many of the best in the world are partnerships that matter just as much. A support system is something all rodeo athletes will tell you is crucial for success.

This season, two of rodeo’s power couples are proving that life milestones and elite competition can coexist. Gold buckles are still the goal, but so are rings, baby boots and building something that lasts well beyond the arena dirt.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
