With a dominant six-round performance, Tyler Tryan and Levi Lord captured the 49th Annual Bob Feist Invitational title as Tryan continues one of the hottest runs in team roping.
22 year old Lipan Texas cowboy, Tyler Tryan is on fire in 2026. In the past few months, he has won almost every major team roping there is to win. Some wins means just a little bit more, like the Bob Feist Invitational. Tryan, with partner Levi Lord took home the 49th BFI title.
This is a roping built on nearly 50 years of history. It was Tyler Tryan and Levi Lord who put on a show from the very beginning. They finished with a 42.21-second aggregate on six head, one of the fastest totals the BFI has seen, and did it in a way that left little doubt because from the start they had an aggressive lead.
A 5.4-second run in Round 1 immediately put them in position, and instead of backing off, they kept pushing through each round. They roped smart, knowing to keep the lead they just had to rope two horns and two feet consistently and effectively. They added another round placing in round 3, stayed clean across six rounds, and built a huge lead that would not be overtaken.
At the BFI, that’s what it takes. You’re not just roping against a handful of good teams, but against the best in the world, over and over again through 6 rounds on a unique set up.
Behind Tryan and Lord, Brye Crites and Ross Ashford finished second with a 46.74, followed by Jayse Tettenhorst and Belden Cox at 48.13. Bridger Ketcham and Kaden Prince and Jr Dees and Landen Glenn rounded out the top five, showing just how deep the competition was.
This story doesn’t stop at the BFI however, because right now Tyler Tryan is in the middle of a hot streak.
Over the past few months, he’s stacked wins at the Lone Star Shootout, the Live Like Ace Roping, a reserve championship at the Cervi, and a Junior BFR title, and now adds a BFI championship to that list.
This is a run that has him in the conversation as one of the most dangerous headers in the game right now, and he is only 22 years old. Tyler is also chasing something else, a first trip to the National Finals Rodeo. Currently sitting inside the Top 25 in the PRCA World Standings, Tryan is right in the mix.
Alongside him, Levi Lord brings experience to the partnership. A five-time NFR qualifier, Lord has been on this stage before. He understands what it takes to win at the highest level. The Bob Feist Title adds one of the sport’s most prestigious titles to his résumé.
Tyler Tryan is following in the footsteps of his father, Clay Tryan, a 2 time world champion, 20 time NFR qualifier, and BFI champion himself. The name carries weight in the team roping world and now, Tyler as the next generation is adding to it.
He is young, he is talented, he is confident, and clearly he is not afraid to take chances, because playing it safe doesn’t give guys a winning streak like he has had.
