History was made inside Dickies Arena, and it happened in just 3.3 seconds.

Team ropers Nelson Wyatt and Jonathan Torres stopped the clock in a lightening fast 3.3 seconds during the opening performance of Bracket 3 at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. This was a record breaking and history making run.

This 3.3 broke the arena record in Dickies and is one of fastest times ever recorded in the sport at all. The pair made a flawless textbook run.

Wyatt, a two-time NFR qualifier in 2020 and 2023, and Torres, a four-time NFR qualifier from 2022 through 2025, won the round by a wide margin. World champions Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira briefly held the lead with a 4.0 second run before Wyatt and Torres followed with their record setting performance.

A lot has to happen in 3.3 seconds, and tonight, everything just happened exactly right for the team.

From the moment the barrier pulled, the run just unfolded with perfect timing. Wyatt hit the start and had it on the steer fast. The steer stayed straight, the horses stayed square, and the rope never slowed the clock at all. Torres cleaned it up and they came tight instantly.

“It might be the best steer that has ever been to the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo,” Wyatt said in a post-run interview with Katy Lucas. The team used that steer just right.

Torres followed with “He did a great job, my horse did a great job, and I did a good job, and it just worked out."

Men of few words, Wyatt and Torres let the clock do the talking.

At the conclusion of the 2025 regular season, Jonathan qualified for the NFR, while Nelson narrowly missed the cut. Torres went on to rope at the finals with Kolton Schmidt, finishing fourth in the world standings. Tonight in Dickies marked a statement moment for Wyatt, back alongside Torres and back atop the leaderboard.

With one round still remaining in Bracket 3, nothing is set yet. The pair will need another good run tomorrow in round 2 to secure their spot advancing in Dickies.

The top two money earners in each bracket after two rounds move on to the semi finals, while the third place team will move into the wildcard round.

Wyatt and Torres sure seem to have a Fort Worth title and a successful 2026 on their mind.
