The Reds turn to the Basque tactician following Arne Slot’s shock dismissal, eyeing the former Bournemouth boss to lead a new era at Anfield after his historic success.
According to fresh reports, former Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is set to become the new manager of Liverpool football club next season.
In a shock announcement on Saturday afternoon, Liverpool confirmed that they had parted ways with Dutch manager Arne Slot, despite having lifted the Premier League title just 12 months ago.
Slot is one of only three other managers to have lifted the trophy in the last decade, with Pep Guardiola amounting seven, while Jurgen Klopp and Mikel Arteta also have one medal each, with Liverpool and Arsenal respectively.
Following Slot's sacking, reports quickly emerged that Iraola had been earmarked as the club's next in line, following his major success on the South Coast.
In just three seasons, the Basque-born boss has taken Bournemouth from fighting to stay in the Premier League to their first ever season in Europe, qualifying for the Europa League alongside Sunderland ahead of next campaign.
Despite the mammoth success he's had at the Vitality Stadium, Iraola chose not to extend his deal with the Cherries as he searches for his next challenge, which seems to be leading him to Liverpool.
However, as the story above explains, there are a few other candidates that Liverpool are set to consider before making their appointment, although the upcoming decision is expected to be swift.
