At 24 years old, Michael Olise has taken part in his first-ever international tournament. He has seriously taken the opportunity to excel on the international stage.
The France National Team isn’t short for competition in attacking areas, with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Desire Doué, Ousmane Dembele, Bradley Barcola, and Rayan Cherki all capable of competing for Olise’s spot. He must be doing something right to have started all of their key games.

Olise’s Latest Test
Michael Olise’s last challenge came in France’s semi-final clash against European Champions Spain. France lost the match 2-0 in an extremely disappointing performance across the entire team.
It was a tactical masterclass from Spain. Despite not being the favourites, they managed to limit France’s world-class attackers to just four shots on target across the 90 minutes.
Olise found himself extremely involved, as he had the most touches (55) from a France forward despite not completing the 90 minutes. He was dropping into deeper areas to receive the ball and trying to make an impact.
Unfortunately, his impact was limited, and performance was poor. There were even question marks if the player should have been sent off early on with an ankle-high challenge on Rodri.

Whilst he hasn’t been the number one standout player for France this tournament, Michael Olise’s World Cup was bittersweet. Kylian Mbappe will always be the star of the national side, but Olise is definitely making a great name for himself amongst the French.
If you were to check the statistics, he has the most assists in the tournament. If you want to watch him on the eye, you’re gonna be left amazed nearly every single time.
There was almost a sense of fear you can feel when teams faced France’s attack this tournament. Michael Olise was one of the key reasons why.
Despite an underperformance in the semi-final against Spain, he had a great tournament individually. Bayern Munich should be proud of their young and talented right winger.
