The German full-back is back in Germany after his nation's disastrous performance at the 2026 World Cup and leaves Eintract Frankfurt for the top dogs.
Nathaniel Brown has officially joined Bayern Munich from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal worth £47 million (€55 million), making Brown the second most expensive left-backs in Bundesliga history behind Lucas Hernandez (€80 million in 2019/2020).
The transfer represents a significant investment for Bayern, who moved during the World Cup to secure the transfer. The 23-year-old German international has signed a long-term contract with the German champions that runs until June 2031.
The defender said: "Bayern is one of the best clubs in the world. It means so much to me to have the chance to play for this club and it fills me with pride. I’ve always dreamed of playing for the biggest titles at the highest level; I set myself the highest goals and want to get the maximum out of me every day."
"I quickly had a great feeling in talks with the management. Vincent Kompany in particular showed me how he sees me and my development and absolutely convinced me,” Brown added.
Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said: "Nathaniel has a profile that is very much in demand in modern football. We all believe he's an excellent fit for Bayern."
He added: "This transfer also underlines our aspiration to bring top young German players to Bayern early. That's always been a part of our DNA and should remain the case in the future."
According to Hessian broadcaster tagesschau, Frankfurt's sporting director Markus Krösche confirmed the club's reluctant acceptance of the transfer.
"Of course we would have liked to keep him here. At the same time, he expressed the desire to make the next step in his career with a move to FC Bayern Munich," Krösche said.
Nathaniel Brown's Career So Far
Brown, who joined Frankfurt from Nürnberg for just €5.5 million two years ago, has undergone an extraordinary value increase during his time at the club .
He made 75 competitive appearances for Eintracht, registering seven goals and 13 assists . He debuted for Germany in October 2025 and scored his first international goal during the 7-1 World Cup victory over Curaçao. In total, Brown has won eight senior caps for Germany.
It's also worth noting that he was eligible to play for the United States through his American father but turned down their approach, stating: “For me, it was clear that I only wanted to play for Germany because I was born in Germany and grew up with my mother.”
