Harry Kane has 73 goals in all competitions so far this season - a historic record for a player who is not Lionel Messi.
As the 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony approaches, all eyes are on England captain Harry Kane. Three years on from his move to Bavaria, the striker has delivered his best season yet.
He has posted spectacular numbers, but does he have a genuine shot at football's most prestigious individual honor?
Could this be Harry Kane's year?
Harry Kane has 73 goals so far this season, both with Bayern Munich and England.
Now, he is two matches away from being able to continue increasing his goal tally. England eliminated Norway from the World Cup quarter-finals and are so close to winning their first World Cup in 60 years.
Kane has had a dream season with Bayern Munich, winning everything except the UEFA Champions League. Beyond his statistics he has performed very well and has been very consistent throughout the season.
Author's Take: Harry Kane could be in the Ballon d'Or top three this year
Perhaps to favourite to win the Ballon d'Or is Ousmane Dembele, especially if France win the World Cup. The Paris Saint-Germain player won the UEFA Champions League and was the most decisive player for his team.
However, Harry Kane has had a fantastic season which can only be elevated by winning the biggest trophy in international football.
His statistics are bonkers: 73 goals in one season is only bettered by Lionel Messi's insane 2012 campaign of 91 goals. Would this dream season secure the Ballon d'Or?
