The remaining discussions reportedly concern the split between the guaranteed fee and performance-related bonuses, with Frankfurt pushing for a higher fixed amount. Both clubs are said to be optimistic that an agreement will be completed soon.
Other reports from Germany indicate that Bayern Munich have already reached an understanding with Brown on personal terms, with the player eager to remain in the Bundesliga and work under Vincent Kompany.
The situation surrounding Joško Gvardiol looks markedly different. Interest from Bayern Munich was genuine, and journalists, including Ben Jacobs have reported that the Bundesliga champions made enquiries while the defender considered his future at Manchester City.
However, the latest reporting from England suggests Manchester City are progressing in negotiations over a contract extension and remain determined to retain one of the cornerstones of their defence. GOAL has also reported that Gvardiol is expected to reject Bayern Munich’s interest in favour of extending his stay in England.
German reports now indicate that Bayern Munich have effectively stepped away from the race, recognising that the financial demands of any deal would be difficult to justify and that strengthening other positions has become a greater priority.
