Deportivo La Coruña Close in on Jonathan Asp Jensen in Ambitious Summer Move from Bayern Munich

Deportivo La Coruña appear set to make one of the most eye-catching signings of the summer after reaching an agreement in principle to sign highly rated Danish midfielder Jonathan Asp Jensen from Bayern Munich.

Fabrizio Romano announced Bayern have accepted Deportivo’s official offer, while the player has also agreed to the move, paving the way for the transfer to be completed once the final formalities are settled.

The deal is particularly significant given that Italian side Lazio had also shown serious interest in the talented youngster.

Reports suggest Bayern turned down Lazio’s proposal before accepting Deportivo’s offer, highlighting the Spanish club’s determination to secure one of Europe’s promising young midfielders.

Asp Jensen has long been regarded as one of Denmark’s brightest emerging talents. After joining Bayern Munich’s youth system, he continued his development in one of Europe’s most competitive academies.

Although opportunities with Bayern’s senior side have been limited, the midfielder has consistently impressed at youth level.

For Deportivo, this move represents much more than adding another young player to the squad. It signals the club’s growing ambition to rebuild its reputation as a destination for elite talent. Once one of Spain’s most respected clubs, Deportivo have spent recent years working to return to the level that saw them compete regularly in La Liga and European competitions.

Landing a player developed by Bayern Munich would send a strong message that the club is prepared to invest in long-term success rather than short-term solutions.

The transfer could also prove beneficial for Asp Jensen’s career. Moving to Deportivo offers the possibility of consistent first-team football, something that is often difficult to achieve at a club as competitive as Bayern Munich.

From Bayern’s perspective, the move allows another academy graduate to continue his development in a competitive environment.

If the transfer is finalised as expected, Deportivo supporters will have every reason to be excited. Asp Jensen arrives with considerable potential, excellent football education and the opportunity to become a key figure in the club’s next chapter.
