Should Dortmund Keep Hold Of Yan Couto Incase Julian Ryerson's Injury Proves To Be Serious?
Borussia Dortmund's Julian Ryerson had to be taken off at the hour mark in Norway's 2-1 defeat to England in the 2026 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals due to an injury. Ryerson had already missed a game earlier in the tournament for Norway due to an injury, and these recurring injuries will be concerning Borussia Dortmund.
That is because the club were close to agreeing a deal to send 2nd choice right back Yan Couto out on loan for the seaosn to Como, with an option to buy for the Italian side, but with this new injury for Julian Ryerson, that throws Couto's proposed move into serious doubt, as Dortmund are unlikely to sanction a departure in the right back position when their starting one, and one who avoided any real injuries throughout the entirity of the domestic season, has had two injuries in the space of just over a month.
Borussia Dortmund will be hoping that this is just a consequence of Julian Ryerson playing a lot of minutes for club and country over the last season, and that, hopefully, with some time off to rest and recover, he can come back and still be the same seemingly bulletproof self he was last campaign.
