Young talent Darryl Bakola spurns Marseille contract, paving the way for a January move. Chelsea eyes the exciting attacking midfielder amidst growing interest.

It seems Chelsea have settled their managerial problems for now after a confident display against Charlton, which saw them defeat the home side 5-1 in their FA Cup third-round fixture, marking the beginning of the Liam Rosenior era.

Rosenior looks quite pleased with his current squad full of young talents, although that doesn't completely rule out any activity during the winter transfer window, as the board will hold discussions with their newly appointed manager regarding his plans for January.

Chelsea were linked to quite a few names before Enzo Maresca's premature departure. However, the sudden sacking changed the situation at the club. BlueCo wasted no time in bringing in their new manager from FC Strasbourg and is now looking forward to bolstering Rosenior's squad with fresh reinforcements.

Darryl Bakola Rejects Contract Renewal Offers

Chelsea appears set to continue their transfer policy of signing highly talented youngsters. The Blues have been enquiring about 18-year-old Darryl Bakola for some time. According to METRO, Bakola has rejected renewal offers from his current club, Marseille. This could be a huge boost for the Blues in their quest for the Frenchman

As reported, Bakola, alongside his teammate Robinio Vaz, has rejected the French side's contract, which would have paid the teenager £52000 per month, but it seems both of them are looking at other options, with limited minutes in Marseille.

Bakola has made only 11 appearances since his promotion to the senior side in January 2025. This is also considered a major reason for his decision to leave Marseille. The youngster is rightfully looking for a club where he can play regularly during these crucial early days of his career.

Assessing the situation, Chelsea would most likely step up their efforts in the coming days to sign the talented attacking midfielder, as other Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Newcastle and Aston Villa are also on the lookout for the youngster.

With the midfielder's contract set to expire in 2027, the French side would like to cash in on Bakola before his value further deteriorates during the summer, as no contract extension appears imminent.

Coaches already consider Bakola one of the biggest talents to emerge from Marseille's academy in recent times, and the Blues will likely seize the opportunity to bring in the teenager as early as this winter.
