Chelsea have officially announced the appointment of former FC Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior as their new head coach within a week of relieving Enzo Maresca of his duties in order to stabilize the turbulent situation at the club as of late.
Maresca's departure was looking imminent after a brief patch of poor games, clubbed alongside his explosive press conference following their victory against Everton in December, which finally resulted in his sacking prior to the Blues' game against Manchester City.
Despite the poor results, Chelsea have somehow managed to stay in contention for a top-four finish as their rivals have also failed to maintain consistency up until now, resulting in a pretty unpredictable Premier League table.
As it seems BlueCo has appointed Rosenior with a long-term vision for the Englishman at the club, as the 41-year-old signed a contract with the Blues till the summer of 2032, which is definitely a long-term contract for a less experienced manager like Rosenior.
According to Finance Monthly, Rosenior will draw a base salary of £4 million annually, alongside bonuses, which will be added. Maresca, on the other hand, earned a salary of £4.2- £4.5 million at Chelsea before his contract was terminated.
As for Rosenior, it would be a huge boost from his base salary at Strasbourg, where he managed for an annual wage of £1.83 million, which is considered to be a decent salary for a mid-table club in Ligue 1.
Although compared to the annual salaries of other Premier League managers, Rosenior's wage is not much. Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta draw an annual salary of £20 million and £10 million, respectively. y.
The Englishman could see an increase in his salary structure provided the Blues at least finish in the top four at the end of the season, as the league title looks like a distant dream given the current scenario.
But before that, Rosenior would need to quickly adapt to the club's ethos and make his players familiar with his style of play as the Chels prepare for an away trip against Fulham.
