On Wednesday evening, Chelsea faced defending champions PSG in the French capital for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash.
For the task at hand, Liam Rosenior opted for a line up of; Jorgensen; Gusto, Fofana, Chalobah, Cucurella; James, Caicedo, Palmer, Fernandez, Neto; Pedro.
Whilst the bench consisted of; Sanchez, Merrick, Tosin, Badiashile, Sarr, Hato, Acheampong, Santos, Lavia, Delap, Guiu, Garnacho.
After around five minutes or so, Chelsea had a really good chance to take the lead. Good work from Reece James down the right hand side saw the skipper put a really nice cross into the box, but Joao Pedro could only poke the ball wide - perhaps he could have gone with his left foot instead.
They would be made to be punished five minutes later. A cross from Ousmane Dembele was knocked down by Joao Neves, and Bradley Barcola rifled a left footed effort in off the bar. Just shows how much you will be punished at this level.
Quarter of an hour in, and the hosts hit the woodowrk again, but this time did not find the net, with Dembele's powerful strike being tipped onto the post by Filip Jorgensen.
Not long before the half hour mark, the Blues got a deserved equaliser when Enzo Fernandez found Malo Gusto at the far post, and he fired home. The goalkeeper should have done better, but no complaining.
With five minutes of the first half remaining, Cole Palmer missed a decent opportunity after opening his body up first time - similar to the way he struck the ball for his goal against Bayern. From there, PSG immediately countered and Dembele fired the ball into the bottom corner. Very cruel.
Twelve minutes into the second half, Rosenior's side scored their second equaliser of the game. Pedro Neto intercepted a stray pass, ran down the outside, and cut the ball back for Fernandez to equalise. A great goal, and deserved equaliser.
With just over a quarter of an hour remaining, the hosts took the lead for the third time on the night. A poor pass from Jorgensen was intercepted by Barcola, and Vitinha lobbed the goalkeeper with a composed finish to make it 3-2.
There were just over ten minutes on the clock when Chelsea thought they had equalised for a third time when Pedro had the ball in the back of the net, but Fernandez had ventured offside in the build up.
To sum up the night - with just under five minutes remaining, PSG made it 4-2. Uncharacteristically, James lost the ball in the middle of the park, and from there, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia curled a beauty in from the edge of the box.
Deep into stoppage time, the Georgian winger made it 5-2 after finishing off a cutback from Achraf Hakimi. Once again, questionable goalkeeping. And that would be that - a 5-2 defeat, despite a good performance.
