Wrexham faces Chelsea, depleted, missing four key players. Can the Red Dragons overcome key absences to challenge the Premier League giants?

Wrexham AFC will face Chelsea in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Saturday, March 7. And we cannot deny that it is one of those 'David vs. Goliath' matches that always draw attention.

Regardless of the competition, when Wrexham hosts Chelsea at the historic Racecourse Ground, it will be a clash between two worlds. The North Wales team, famous for its revitalization under the ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, continues its meteoric rise. At the same time, Chelsea remains one of the global heavyweights of the Premier League.

Wrexham's Hollywood story has turned every home match into a global event, but the arrival of a 'Big Six' club like Chelsea takes the excitement to another level.

The 'Blues' arrive with all the obligation to take the victory against Wrexham, but they should not be overconfident because the 'Red Dragons' of Ryan Reynolds could spring a big surprise.

The last time both teams faced each other was in a friendly match in July 2024; the score ended in a 2-2 draw. Before that, they met in July 2023; that time, Chelsea took the victory with a 5-0 rout over Wrexham.

Chelsea sits in fifth place in the Premier League, while Wrexham is in sixth place in the Championship. Both remain far from the title fight, but within the top places of their respective leagues.

In short, the clash between Wrexham and Chelsea transcends the final score. For the Welsh side, the match represents a golden opportunity to measure their courage against the elite, a test of character where collective intensity will seek to close any gap in class.

On the other side, Chelsea arrives with the obligation to impose its hierarchy and offer the technical efficiency that its status in the Premier League demands. Beyond the names on the teamsheet, we will witness a fascinating contrast: the romantic narrative of the rise against the raw demands of high-level football. We will see which one takes the glory.

Injuries and doubts for the match:

Levi Colwill (knee), Dario Essugo (unspecified), Estevao Willian (thigh), and Jamie Gittens (thigh).
