Late drama and a pitchside brawl saw Chelsea clinch a thrilling 3-2 victory over West Ham after a red card erupted.

Chelsea defeated West Ham United 3-2 in agonizing fashion with a 92nd-minute goal from Enzo Fernandez in a spectacular football duel that also had its share of pugilistic theatrics.

Beyond the game, there was a brawl near the end of the match in which several fans in England once again applauded the players for letting their blood boil and unleashing a degree of testosterone not seen before.

It all started with a play on one of the corners of the pitch when Adama Traore, a West Ham player, was wrestling with Marc Cucurella, Chelsea's full-back, and when he couldn't contain the ball, he threw the Spaniard into the air.

Cucurella's mane shook as did his body, which crashed down off the pitch. Immediately, Chelsea's Joao Pedro jumped in pursuit of Traore, who was pushed from behind, and when he turned around, he had a murderous look that inflamed the fans.

Traore, known for being muscular in the Premier League, charged at Joao Pedro, who faltered when he saw that raging bull coming with all the ferocity of an uncontrolled animal. For good measure, Traore escalated the collective fight by also shoving Trevoh Chalobah.

West Ham center-back Jean-Clair Todibo ran the entire length of the pitch to get into the fight, going straight for Joao Pedro. There, he grabbed him by the neck, while everything around them was spiraling out of control. Todibo could have perfectly well been sent off, as he was, although justice from the referee did not reach Traore and Joao Pedro.

West Ham's other center-back, Mavropanos, rushed to help Todibo and grabbed Joao Pedro by the back of the neck, which caught the attention of Cole Palmer, who ran to his teammate's aid and dodged a swipe from the opponent.

In the end, VAR reviewed the situation with a call to the referee, leading to an accusation only against Todibo, the sole player sent off, although more sanctions are expected in the coming days.
