Following Chelsea’s recent stumbles in the Premier League and Champions League, the board has reportedly already identified Liam Rosenior’s successor.

The future of Liam Rosenior at the helm of Chelsea is beginning to generate uncertainty. According to The Touchline, an influential executive in the club’s United States-based ownership group is evaluating the possibility of betting on Luis Enrique, the current manager of Paris Saint-Germain, as a potential replacement on the bench.

Rosenior took charge at the start of the year after leaving RC Strasbourg, another institution linked to the BlueCo group. His arrival at the London club came following the departure of Italian Enzo Maresca, a decision that sparked debate from the outset due to the English manager’s limited experience at the highest level.

By the numbers, the balance has not been entirely negative: 10 wins in 17 matches across all competitions. However, recent performances have raised alarms within the club. In the Premier League, Chelsea remains in fifth place, though its position for European spots is in danger if those below them pick up points in the coming weeks.

Pressure increased after two very tough results. First, the Blues fell 5-2 to PSG in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16, in a match that slipped away in the final minutes after conceding three late goals. Days later, the team suffered an unexpected 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge against Newcastle United.

Although Chelsea remains alive in the FA Cup and will face Port Vale in the quarterfinals, it has already been eliminated from the EFL Cup, and its continuity in the Champions League appears highly compromised.

Meanwhile, in the London club's offices, the direction of the sporting project is being analyzed. And in that context, the name of Luis Enrique is beginning to emerge as a more frequently mentioned option.

Despite these rumors, the contractual reality at PSG for Luis Enrique seems to solidify his long-term stay in France. Currently, the Asturian manager has a contract valid until June 2027, following an extension signed in early 2025 as a reward for his domestic dominance and progress in European competitions.

However, following the recent 5-2 victory over Chelsea in the Champions League, the Parisian leadership has accelerated efforts to offer him a new deal that would keep him at the club until 2030, aligning his tenure with that of sporting director Luis Campos.
