A Chelsea Women legend bids farewell to the club and fans through an emotional video on social media after a successful career in London. Her future lies across the Atlantic.

In an emotional farewell message posted in a video on Chelsea's official website, Guro Reiten said: "Everything comes to an end, and this is my end here at Chelsea. To the players, both former and current, thank you for the memories, the ups and downs... It's been an honor to share the pitch with you and the friendships I've forged here, I will carry with me forever."

Addressing fans directly, Reiten added, "To the Chelsea fans, I hope you know that you are the ones who make this club special; the support and love you have shown me over the years, I can't thank you enough, and you will always have a special place in my heart. It has been an honor and a privilege to wear the badge and represent you, so thank you and goodbye."

While her departure from Chelsea is emotional, Reiten's future at Gotham FC looks bright. "I'm very excited to join Gotham FC and grateful for the opportunity," Reiten said in a statement posted on the club's official website. "Gotham has built something special over the last few years, and there is a clear ambition here. I'm looking forward to working hard, learning, and doing everything I can to help the team succeed."

General manager Yael Averbuch West praised the signing, saying: "Guro is a player of exceptional quality... her experience will bring valuable leadership to our squad."

Reiten departs Chelsea with an impressive record of 207 games played in all competitions, during which she scored 59 goals and provided 44 assists. Her trophy haul in London is difficult to match, totaling 13 national titles. Reiten achieved the feat of winning the Women's Super League in each of her full seasons with the club, accumulating six consecutive league trophies.

In addition, her cabinet includes four Women's FA Cup titles and three Women's League Cups, cementing her legacy as a born winner in English football.

In her final spell before the transfer, Reiten reached the milestone of 50 goals with the Chelsea shirt early in the current 2025/26 season. Before heading to New Jersey, the 31-year-old forward played 17 games in the current campaign, registering one goal in the Women's FA Cup. She now joins Gotham FC on an initial loan, before signing a permanent contract that will tie her to the American team until 2029.
