Rosenior defends his keeper rotation strategy, emphasizing competition and adaptability to secure wins, not just continuity.

When addressing the growing pressure on his goalkeeper, Rosenior praised Sanchez's reaction to being left out. He explained: “I have been very honest with Rob. He was very disappointed not to play, which is what I expect from all players, whether they are goalkeepers or outfield players. But the way Rob responded in training, the way he supported Filip, in the warm-up, in the dressing room, was magnificent.”

When discussing whether he has a starting goalkeeper, Rosenior added, “Honestly, I see the goalkeeper position differently in each match. I want competition in every area of the pitch. I know that, traditionally, if there is a change of goalkeeper, people assume that he is now the starter.

But that is not the case. We will choose, and I will choose the best team for each match. Filip has not been waiting; he has been working to get his chance. I think he took it very, very well. But Rob has also had great performances.”

On whether it is counterproductive to rotate the goalkeeper position, where continuity is often essential, Rosenior said: “Yes, you need continuity, but you also need to win football matches. There are different approaches: modern or traditional. I will choose the team that I consider best to win each match.

I do not think I have kept the same starting lineup even once since I have been here. People can say that you need continuity: if we lose, it is because we did not have it; if we win, it is the right decision. I made a decision for the match against Aston Villa that I think has proven to be correct. I hope to make more correct decisions in the future.”

Rosenior's team's next commitment is a meeting with Wrexham, one of the most prominent teams in the Championship, in the fifth round of the FA Cup. The Blues have faced the Welsh team twice in the preseason in recent years, beating them 5-0 in 2023 and drawing 2-2 in 2024, and will be heavy favorites to prevail on Saturday.
