Cole Palmer is making club history as he continues his torrid run in Premier League scoring.

During Chelsea’s comprehensive 3-1 victory away to Wolves on match day 25 of the Premier League season, Cole Palmer bagged a first half hat-trick, the third time he has done so for the club.

It was a memorable way to mark his 100th start for the club. There have been ups and downs but on the whole it has been an incredible two and a half years in SW6 so far.

With those three goals at Molineux on Saturday afternoon, Palmer has moved up the ladder when it comes to Chelsea’s all time top Premier League goalscorers.

Indeed, with the three strikes taking his league tally for the club to 42, into eighth position in the all time rankings, taking him above the club’s greatest ever captain, John Terry, who scored 41 goals.

He now sits just behind Frank Lampard (147), Didier Drogba (104), Eden Hazard (85), Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink (69), Gianfranco Zola (59), Eidur Gudjohnsen (54), and Diego Costa (52). Quite some company for him to be in.

It is a shame that Chelsea only have two players to score 100 Premier League goals for the club. Other members of the 100 club, such as Nicolas Anelka and Romelu Lukaku, have scored league goals for the Blues, but their 100+ strikes included a number of goals at other sides in the division.

How nice would it be for Palmer to become just the third Chelsea player to net 100 times in the Premier League, whilst playing in West London? He didn’t actually score a single league goal at Manchester City either, so all 100 (or more) would be at Chelsea, should he get there before any potential departure.

With 42 goals to his name, we could see him hit the half century mark this season, if he can stay fit and have a strong few months. He’ll certainly be hoping for that ahead of the World Cup in North America this summer.

Now it's just important to make sure that Palmer's injury issues are behind him once and for all. The attacking midfielder has only played 1075 minutes in all competitions this season, which is the equivalent of just under 12 full games. And we are in February now.

The active Chelsea players with the highest total is Enzo Fernandez, with 17. Let's hope more players begin to chip in more consistently in the coming months and years.
