Chelsea are interested in the former Inter Milan midfielder, who is also on the radar of Arsenal.

It is no secret that Chelsea are always on the lookout for the brightest talents in world football. That has been the strategy they have followed since the change of ownership, completely overlooking experience and proven players for youngsters with high potential.

Of course, that has meant that the ownership and the sporting directors have faced heavy criticism from the supporters whenever things are not going well on the pitch. They seem determined to do things their way despite this though.

The latest name to be linked with Chelsea is 20-year-old midfielder Aleksandar Stankovic, who is currently on the books at Club Brugge and is a full Serbian international already.

According to HLN, two clubs that are in contact with both his Roc Nation agents and Club Brugge are Arsenal and Chelsea. Stankovic's performance, potential, and character make him a very interesting prospect for the London clubs.

If the name sounds familiar, it is because he is the son of Inter Milan legend Dejan Stankovic, who was part of the Nerazzurri team that had knocked out Carlo Ancelotti's iconic 2009/10 side from the Champions League.

Stankovic is also a midfielder like his father. He came through the youth ranks at Inter Milan but was not able to establish himself in the senior team. He left in the summer to join Club Brugge.

That is already looking like a mistake on the part of Inter Milan. Stankovic has proven to be a standout for Club Brugge. He has not only established himself as a starter for the Belgian side, but also contributed with seven goals and four assists despite playing mostly as a defensive midfielder.

So, it is not hard to see why Stankovic might have caught the eye of Chelsea, who continue to fill up their squad with youngsters despite constant calls from the fans for some experienced and proven names to be brought in.

Chelsea do have a stacked midfield with Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez being nailed-on starters. Andrey Santos is a Liam Rosenior favourite as well, with both of them working together at Strasbourg before this.

Romeo Lavia continues to be a worry though, as the Belgian international has never been able to put his injury problems behind him. If Chelsea are ready to move on from him, Stankovic might end up being the replacement.
